It's finally over... 2011 is done and now it's on to 2012! But first, here's the deal with my painted figures during the past year... Over all I was able to increase my painting total by 4.2%! That translates into a whopping 16 more figures painted in 2011 that in 2010. However, back in 2009 I painted 423 figures, so I'm still down from 2009. There were two projects driving the increase: the undead project that I finished in early 2011, and the 15mm Greek army in the summer.
This shows that I was really strong in early 2011, but fell off as the year drew to a close.
In asking why my productivity fell off in the later part of 2011, the answer is pretty obvious when I look at the non-accumulated painted figure graph by month:
That bump in June there...
That bump in June was due to a commission. I was looking for a new project around that time, as my painting had been dropping off since the undead project, and I thought I'd hammer through that commission and then get a new project on the other side! Of course, commissions always sap my enthusiasm for the hobby... remind me never to take commissions again! :)

Things are going pretty well this year so far. Even though I've slowed down a lot from the beginning of the year, I've still managed to match or beat all of my totals from last year on a month-by-month basis. I doubt that will continue, but so far things are going well.
An interesting thing to note about thie year so far is the obvious lack of 15mm figures on the list... By this time last year I had painted 21 mounted and 31 foot figures in 15mm... Which shows me that I really am painting faster since 15mm figures take about half as much time... That will change though, since I'm painting some 15mm right now!

Okay, so 2010 is over and another year's gone. The year along with another 384 figures painted. This year, unlike last year, my focus has been on 28mm figures again. That was sorta something I resolved to do last year. I like 15mm, but I like 28mm better. It's probably becuase I was painting 28mm figs primarily this year that my output decreased by about 9% from 2009... Also, I think I slept a little more this year, but I'm not sure... Check out the image below to see the 2010 progress by month compared with the 2009 progress.
You can see that 2010 wasn't quite as productive as 2009, but pretty close.
The monthly average figures painted in 2010: 32.

So, the end of 2009 has come, and it's time to do the promised annual wrap up of this entry and start on the new entry for 2010! Overall this year I painted a whopping 423 miniatures! Well, whopping for me :) I know that some would scoff at that slow progress, but I'm pretty happy with it. I have nothing to compare it to, but the below graph tells the story pretty well I think!
These are my painting totals by month for the year of 2009. I have never seen such a perfect line in real data, have you? There is a bit of a trend there I guess: more in the winter and autumn, and less as summer reaches its height. typical I would imagine.
Here are the averages for the year:
The monthly average figures painted is currently: 35.
The daily averages figures painted is currently: 1
