Sisters of Battle Squad  -  Posted: January 24, 2021  -  Manufacturer: Games Workshop
First Battle Sisters squad done! It only took about six months to paint five - plus one
Imagifier - so that should put me at a fully-painted army in about ten years! Still, the
whole vampire theme is coming together and I'm liking it.

A closer shot of the Sisters of Battle squad.

I got to paint fangs on the vampire sergeant! I know that the power sword isn't the ideal choice for a Sisters of Battle squad,
but I didn't have the heart to cut it off and replace it with a chain sword on the
old classic metal model. I think it turned out well though; it's my first blended
power sword, and I'm not super happy with it, but it's not terrible!

Love the cloak on this figure. Also love that one sisters' backpack sculpt. So predictable.

This was always my favourite Sisters' sculpt. Back in the day I converted them all
to sergeants for my various squads because I thought they were easily cool enough
to play that role. So that meant gluing combi-weapons to them and swords, etc. Back
then I was all about fielding the cheapest army - money wise - so I gave every figure
every single possible option to make it a higher points cost :) Note the teeth!

That single backpack is the best!

The last of the standard sisters for my first squad. For this one I got to paint fangs
in the open mouth, so that was great!

Again with that backpack...

I am quite happy with how they turned out! Also, I feel like the metal figs actually work pretty well
with the closer-to-true-scale plastic sisters as well.

A second picture of the group from a slightly different angle.

I struggled with a paint scheme for this figure. In the end I decided to do that
blue-black sorta look for the icon, and once that decision was made it came together
quite quickly! I am pretty happy with how it turned out, and I think it sets up the
army nicely. The vampire theme continues, with the chalice of blood and the crow on the
backpack!

Is that what her hair looks like from behind?!? Bad joke, sorry. Harry Potter & the
prisoner of Azkaban.

A close up of the crow that I put on there. It's from that Warcry Crow gang...

Another close-up of the crow and the side of the figure. Honestly, the figure
seems almost two-dimensional.

My second Sister here, just one more red vampire sisters to add to the army.

From the back, I decided to go with green hilights just because I like the
colour combination!

Both of them together so far!

This is a test figure. I'm going for a distopian future gothic vampire kinda feel. What evil vampire
order icon should I paint on the shoulder pad though? Bloody rose would work... This is a repainted
metal fig that I had from the late 90s. I will be doing some plastics at some point...

I like the shiny red.

These figs are so small, it's hard not to muck up the gray vampiric face with the blood red lips.

This one was painted circa 2003... Doesn't seem that long ago to
me, but I just checked my calendar and sure enough it is four years
ago! Sheesh!

Death Cult Assassin. I once liked this fig because
it added one more female miniature to the GW line.
Now I am not so sure, as it seems somwhat exploitive.

A kind of blurry close up of the figure. I sold this one years ago, so can't re-take the picture!
I built this for my old Sisters of Battle army for WH40k...
Although I haven't really played the game in some time I
figured I would put this up as I was using this to proxy for
a Soviet walker using the Gear Krieg rules.
My Sisters of
Battle were actually a rebel group opposed to the unjust ruler
of the Imperium called the Communities in Solidarity,
thus the CS designation. The CS actually consisted
of more than just sisters, there is a space marine chapter
(formerly the rainbow warriors), an Eldar chapter, a Guard chapter,
and a couple of Tau chapters. Yay to the people, woe to the power mongers!
